How To Create The Life That You Want

Create the Life that You Want Just By Changing Your Belief System

What we do need to focus on is that changing those things we want to change in our lives is not about changing the “thing” itself– financial situation; intimate relationship; relationships with kids or family or business colleagues or your body.

It’s about Creation.

“The question becomes, “What is possible? What can I make happen in my love life, in my body, in my energy, in my business?”.………says T. Harv Eker  (author of Secrets of a Millionaire Mind)

There are 3 keys to creating what you want from the ever-constant flow of universal change:

1) Express gratitude.

  • Cultivate an emotion of gratitude for the many gifts in your life.
  • Be grateful for what you have, even if it seems trivial.
  • With gratitude comes compassion.
  • Gratitude affirms your connection with a universe that wants to extend your compassion as much as you have for others.

2) Focus on what you want, not what you don’t.

  • You would think this one would be a no-brainer, but you don’t have to look far to see people who react to life’s challenges with fear, which becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, creating the very thing they didn’t want.
  • What you focus on expands.
  • It’s as simple as that.
  • If what you want is going to serve others as well as yourself, life expands that desire even more so, and will move to serve you.
  • Shift the fear of what you don’t want to happen, and turn that focus to what you do want to happen.

3) Observe Your Belief System.

  • A belief is the feeling of certainty about what something means.
  • In other words we’re all making this up as we go along.
  • If you believe a financial catastrophe means you can no longer pursue a dream, then bam, there you go.
  • Dream gone.
  • But if you believe that there is a greater purpose behind this catastrophe for you to become more of what you’re supposed to be, then guess what you’ll be, as long as you commit to that belief.
  • That goes for everything.
  • Beliefs are everything.

Just by recognizing that change is happening all the time, whether we want it to or not, we can share in the most absolute, undeniable truth of reality–all things change.  You can become change. You are change. And you can help direct it.

Trust yourself. Love yourself. Be grateful and accepting of this and every present moment. Believe that the universe is here to work for you, even through life’s inevitable challenges.

You are in an ever-constant state of change that will become your greatest vision, if you allow it.

  1. Hi Joan,

Happy New Year! What a motivating post. It’s so true that we can control our destiny and create the life we want and it starts with our mindset.

I was just talking to my kids about this earlier today. One of them was talking about a goal he has but all I kept hearing was the things that are standing in his way and because of that cannot meet his goals. I told him how important it is to change their mindset and not focus on the bad but on the dreams and goals and proclaim you’re going to make it happen. 🙂

Great post as always Joan. Hope you’re having a great day!

    • Hi Corina,
Happy New Year to you too!
Thanks so much for your awesome comment my friend 🙂
It does all just start with having the right mindset, indeed!

    • Hi Daria,
Yes, an attitude of gratitude definately makes all the difference! I am with ya,
going to make this a great year and yes, crush it 🙂 Thank you for your awesome
      comment 🙂

  2. We really do have the power to get the life we want. I think we give up our power – probably learn to give up our power as kids – and then need to take the power back as we enter adulthood (some figure this out much earlier). And, of course, sometimes we make things more complicated than we need to: focus on what you want – beautiful advice!!

    • Thank you Deb! Yes I would agree with you on that we do make things so much more complicated than
we need too (I know I do that all the time lol)

      Glad you enjoyed the post!

  3. What we focus our thoughts on manifests into our reality, Joan. I prefer being grateful for all that i have and working towards my goals from a place of confidence and self belief. No point trying to fit square pegs into triangle holes. 🙂

    Happy New Year, Joan,

Great post! The point that stands out to me the most is being grateful – an attitude of gratitude. I have seen how a grateful attitude can change a person’s entire outlook on life. Thanks for sharing this!

  5. Hi Joan,
Change is the law of nature. Nothing is permanent. If we will not change with time, time will change us. Thanks for crafting this post so beautifully and sharing it with us.
    Have a great week ahead!

  6. Learning to know ourselves and value who we are, is truly the life-long journey for us humans, Joan. It is something to practice and aspire to. It is also key to “feel” what we are feeling and not suppress our feelings in an effort to be happy. Perspective is truly everything in how we maneuver through both the good and not so good times in our lives. Being grateful and expressing it, is a powerful tool as well. We do have a choice in every moment to create the life we want to live. Thanks for the lovely post this week!

  7. Hi Joan,

Excellent outline here for creating your dream life.

I especially like the suggestion to focus on what you want, not what you don’t. The truth is, we usually get that which we focus on. If we’re always focusing on something we don’t want… we’ll usually get exactly that. Not the outcome we’re looking for, but the one we’ll get unless we learn to shift the thinking to what we do want. Then we can just work on getting it. It’s far more productive than thinking up a million ways to try to avoid an outcome we don’t want.

    • Hi Donna,
Thank you 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the post!
Absolutely agree with you on what we focus on we get more of 😉 I am working on changing my focus in this new year
to be more focused on what I DO want instead of what I DO NOT! It is a daily habit 🙂

  8. Happy New Year Joan…I totally agree and follow this belief in my own life. I realized a long time ago that if I was grateful for what I had right here, right now … I lived with an abundance mindset; when I focused on what I didn’t have, I was in a scarcity mindset. Sometimes I didn’t notice a huge change – like my checking account didn’t suddenly overflow – however, I always had what I needed, when I needed it. Thanks for the post!

    • Happy New Year Tamara!
I can totally relate on always having what I need, when I needed it 🙂
Thank you for your awesome comment! Much appreciated 🙂

  9. Hi Joan,
Great keys for creating the life we want. Oftentimes we neglect to express gratitude and spend time focusing on our problems. I am also a huge proponent on allowing our belief system to guide us in our lives.

    • Hi Sharise,
Thank you for your awesome comment and yes can totally relate with you about gratitude, as
I tend to spend so much time focusing on problems and not what I am grateful for lol
That changed for me back in October when I got myself a daily gratitude journal and without
fail have written in it so far! Makes a huge difference when you allow your belief system
      to guide us 🙂
