What Are The 2 Most Important Words That Will Make You A More Effective Blogger

Imagine…..by the end of this post, you will be a MORE effective blogger, all because you learned two very important words, and the specific reasons WHY those words are so CRUCIAL

BOTH words are found in the above sentence, along with hints related to their importance.

Did you catch them?

If not, keep reading, because all will be REVEALED

The First Most Important Word is “YOU”

  • Did you find the opening sentence compelling?  If so, why?  Or the better question is, WHO was the first sentence focused on?
  • If you’re blogging for marketing purposes,  to be effective, your blog post MUST  focus on YOUR READER.
  • Every blog post should be purposefully aimed at the needs and wants of others,  because YOU will only benefit when YOUR readers benefit FIRST.

The cold, hard truth is this……When it comes to writing engaging content, “YOU”   is the most powerful word in the English language, because people are more interested in fulfilling their own needs.  The fact is that your readers will not start to care about you at all until you have REPEATEDLY OFFERED THEM EXCEPTIONAL VALUE WITH YOUR BLOG.

One of the easiest ways to do that is to maximize the use of “you”, while minimizing or eliminating “I” and “me”.  Every time you finish writing a blog post, you must check the focus.

  • How many times does “you”  appear?
  • What about “I” and “me”?
  • Got the count?
  • Good.
  • Now, adjust accordingly.
  • Try it, and you’ll be amazed at the results.

The 2nd Word is“BECAUSE”

  • One of the most important characteristics of compelling, persuasive content is specificity.
  • The more specific you are, the more credible your points, arguments or sales pitch.
  • There are many ways to be specific in your writing.
  • One of the best is simply giving a reason why.
  • And the most effective transition word when giving a “reason why” is“BECAUSE”.

You must remember to Be specific in your assertions, and always give a reason why, especially when you want people to take some form of action.   Not because I said so, but rather because it WILL work wonders for YOU.

If you enjoyed this post and found TONS OF VALUE, please take a moment and share…..Thank you 🙂

  1. So true! I was reading a chapter in a book recently on the psychology of the word because, you hit the nail on the head here!
Also I can see how “you” is extremely compelling. I’m gonna be more mindful to use the word you more often now.

    Cheers for the tips!

  2. Hi Joan,

You speaks directly to readers and because gives readers reason to keep reading. I tell my story but tie it in to the YOU aspect of reading. As for why, I hold my reasons and my reader’s reasons in mind because we do for distinct, clear and definite reasons. We act because. Smart post Joan.

  3. Thanks Joan for this simple to do tip! When I read blog posts that are heavy on “I”, I get pretty bored as the person is just talking about themselves.
We have to address our audience and speak directly to that person!
    Thanks again

  4. Two words Joan Good Job!

  5. Interesting way to get us focused on giving value to our readers, Joan. We always need to remember that whatever we do must be done for their benefit. To deliver that value, we must give them the reasons why they need to take specific actions, and that is because… they will benefit in very specific ways.
