What Is The Most Important Trait Of Blogging?

The Most Important Trait Of Blogging

What do you think is the most important trait of blogging?

In this post I am going to show you how persistence , yes PERSISTENCE is the MOST IMPORTANT TRAIT of blogging, and how it can be your biggest strength in your success.

Here are 5ย reasons why you should be persistent in your blogging adventure.

1. Search rankings take time

  • It takes a while before your posts start to rank well in the search engines.
  • No matter how much SEO you do, and how great your content is, it will take some time to get noticed.
  • As you keep on blogging, people will come to know about your blog from other sources (blog comments, blogger outreach).
  • In course of time, you will get backlinks.
  • (HINT: Try guest posting to get high quality and relevant backlinks)

2. Users tend to trust old sites

  • Even if you have good content, users may not share your posts with the same enthusiasm as for some popular blogs.
  • You need to show your quality through persistent steady work and gradually you will gain appreciation.
  • Just the facts that your blog has been around for some time and has lots of content, creates a positive impression on the mind of a user.
  • So the only way to achieve this is to keep on blogging and continue to write more and more.

3. You need time to learn and gain experience

  • Blogging is much more than just writing.
  • You must also know how to promote your blog, set it up and manage it
  • You must know how search engines work and how to get organic traffic.
  • As you keep on blogging, youโ€™ll gain valuable experience and eventually you will begin toย understand what works for your blog and what does not.

4. You need time to create content

  • The cornerstone of blogging is good content.
  • Create incredibly useful and helpful stuff.
  • Take your time but produce quality.
  • Achieving this will take time.

5.ย It takes time to build connections

  • Real people will start listening to you
  • You can even ask your e-mail subscribers what they want to learn from you.
  • You have to start by interacting with people on social networks, and answer their questions.
  • Gradually you will get to know more and more people and your network will spread.
  • You just need to give it some time.
  • It is very important to maintain your quality and keep blogging.

Stay focused, and stay persistent, eventually, people will start noticing your valuable content, by sharing, commenting and recommending it to others ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I completely agree Joan! I’ve started MANY blogs in the past, the one I write on now is the first one I’ve consistently posted on since starting it which was 7 months ago. In that time I’ve had one super viral post and a bunch of other ones that have been shared quite a bit. Plus I have a following and good email list. If I would have stopped none of that would have happened!

  2. Joan, again very nice post. Love to follow your blog. I do agree with you about importance of persistance. Afterall, persistance is the only way to get specialized in whatever we are doing. How cam someone become a specialist without a training? Regards, Matija

  3. Hi Joan,

Great post. I have to admit that consistency is a problem I struggle with a lot. In a perfect world, my day would be:
    Check email
    Visit blogs and comment
    Work on my primary business
    Work on PAC site
    Update my blog
    Make connections with new people.

Of course we all know that there is no such thing as a “perfect world.” We do the best we can and your list sure helps. Thank you again.

  4. Hi Joan… I blogged a couple of times a week for six years, and never had more than 50 hits in a day. But that was before social media, before blogging communities, before I knew anything about SEO, keywords and all the other valuable things I’ve learned since. It wasn’t a business blog… just a way of keeping in touch with family and friends who live near and far.

Consistency and persistence are a real challenge for me, and oh so necessary! Thank you for the reminder and the tips.

  5. Hi Joan,

Great post! This is so true and I hear so many bloggers quit when they don’t get fast results. It really does take time. I finally completed my 1st year blog anniversary and these are great tips for any blogger in any season.

    Thanks for sharing,

  6. It is so true that blogging is not an overnight phenomena, and time provides many elements of improvements in value, writing and display style, audience targeting, blog layout and Branding.
It is a visual display of how your business is developing, and change is progress.
It is interesting to look back on any blog, and see how the journey of the person/business/brand has developed.
And posting regularly and consistently provides up to date information for readers, how often depends on many aspects, but if you are in a cutting edge ever-changing world, then posting often will keep you competitive.
Persistence covers all your tips Joan… and you are spot on!
    warm wishes,

  7. Hey Joan, I enjoyed this post, blogging is much more than just writing, it’s writing in a certain way, it’s marketing, it’s adding videos, it’s learning how to promote it to be seen, and it takes time to learn how to do it but it’s definitely something that will give you dividends for a long time.

    1. Thanks Vitaliy!
